La Luna Rose Jewellery x One Percent for the planet

Ever since launching La Luna Rose 3 years ago I have been working on a way in which we can support the community that we work in and give back to our environment. To date we have supported Not for profits such as R U OK DAY and Bali Wise which run close to our heart however we were also interested in making more of a commitment. After watching the incredible Documentary ‘PLASTIC OCEANS’ and living on the island of Bali that references this documentary so much, we knew we wanted to lock hands with a strong environmental group. That’s when we learnt about 1% For the Planet.

This Not-for-profit is a global movement connecting businesses, consumers & non-profits committed to address the most pressing issues facing our planet. Started in 2002 by Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, founder of Blue Ribbon Flies, contributing members have given more than $150 million to environmental nonprofits to date. Our founders - successful entrepreneurs who grew thriving businesses - understood that they were not alone in being committed to protecting the environment and giving back to our global community.

Alongside our sustainable & ethical practises, as a partner of 1% for the planet, we're taking responsibility & giving back to this beautiful place that we get to live & create in.

Through this movement, La Luna Rose has pledged to donate 1% of our annual sales to two charities very close to our heart and home, Bali and New Zealand. This is our dedicated commitment and we will also continue to support other charities when certain moments and times arise.

    Bye Bye Plastic Bali

    BYE BYE PLASTIC:

A Non profit organisation started by Balinese sister Melati and Isabel Wijsen (At ages 10 and 12) to ban all plastic bags on the island of Bali by 2018.

"The more the people are aware of this issue, the more solutions we see rising. With these solutions, everybody is working together toward healing our oceans."

With 24,000 single use plastic bags being used worldwide EVERY SECOND, these girls are determined not to give up. They're taking the world by storm with their powerful message, and they won't just stop at Bali. If we all listen, it can be really simple. Get into the habit of bringing your own reusable totes to the grocery store. Yes, every single time.

    SUSTAINABLE COASTLINES NZ

Sustainable Coastlines is a New Zealand charity run by a team of hard-working staff and a network of passionate volunteers with a vision for Beautiful Beaches, Healthy Waters and Inspired People.

Their mission is simple and tangible: to enable people to look after the coastlines and waterways they love. To deliver on this mission, they coordinate and support large-scale coastal clean-up events, riparian planting and restoration activities, education programmes, public awareness campaigns and training workshops. To date, they have removed 1,320,063 litres of rubbish from the ocean and planted 55,989 trees on coastlines.

We are CHUFFED to be apart of this global movement. And if you too own your own business? I hope we can inspire you to also get on board.
