We've been inspired by MATE for many years and now, and we couldn't keep going without introducing them to you! Their classic, timeless, cosy clothes are definitely an essential in our wardrobe, especially while we're staying home right now. Made sustainably in Los Angeles with non-toxic, natural and certified organic materials, there's nothing not to love about this brand. We talked with founder Kayti to learn more about them, the inspiration, values and message behind MATE.
Can you talk us through your journey to sustainability as a brand? When did you start & how did this evolve for you guys?
The brand began by selling vintage t-shirts years ago and has slowly evolved into a sustainable brand. We launched our Dress Clean initiative in early 2018; we committed to strictly using natural fibers including GOTS certified organic cotton, as well as low impact dyes. We are on a mission to clean up the fashion industry from toxic materials and dyes that are harmful to people and the planet. Furthermore, we have a super localized supply chain and produce all of our product within a 10 mile radius from our HQ in Los Angeles.
