Introducing another one of our amazing retailers, Dear Blackbird Boutique is a stunning, full of treasures, bohemian shop located in Victoria, Australia. We talked to Hayley the beautiful soul who owns this lovely boutique, it to learn more about the history behind the store, her passion and inspirations for Dear Blackbird.

Thanks for chatting Hayley! Obviously we're long time fans of your lovely store...What is the story of how Dear Blackbird Boutique came about? How did you come up with the concept!?

It all started 8 years ago! I wanted to create something that allowed me be surrounded by things that made me happy and to be in a position to help make women feel beautiful and empowered! Dear Blackbird became just that! 

The name came about when I was reflecting on moments and people who had inspired me. Growing up, my dad always toldme that I could be and do anything. I have memories of listening to old tunes with him while he was working on the farm and ‘Blackbird’ by Paul McCartney played in my mind! So I dedicated the store to my beautiful Dad!💞

What are the coolest things we can find inside Dear Blackbird Boutique?

I could go on forever! We specialise in a feminine bohemian style and have stacks of gorgeous pieces from some of fav brands including Auguste, Arnhem, Kivari and Faithfull as well as a beautiful dried flower bar which adds such a cool vibe to the store!

How would you describe Dear Blackbird Boutique's style in three words?

Bohemian, Relaxed, Free-Spirited

Who or what is your biggest inspiration for brands & pieces that you select to stock in store?

We're major lovers of the 70's, so that definitely has an influence on our style! So you’ll see plenty of florals, velvet, cord and band style tees!

We’re also little travel bugs and draw inspiration from all over the world -Morocco, LA, India and Palm Springs being some of our favs!

What is your favourite part about a day in the life of running a retail store?

Oh the customers and my team for sure! We have some of the best! We end up just laughing and chatting all day! There’s nothing better than making someone feel beautiful and making their day a little brighter! And of course the buying for upcoming collections😍

What are the biggest challenges about running a retail space?

I think keeping everyone happy! We’re real people pleasers here and always want to have in stock everything that everyone wants, but it’s just impossible!

What is your favorite Luna & Rose piece & why?

I think my gold pacific palm necklace would be my fav! Whenever I look at it, it reminds me to just chill, it just have those island vibes!

How do you love to style your jewellery?

I'm a bit of a minimalist with my jewels, so I love to layer 2-3 necklaces and throw on a pair of my fav earrings!

Are you a Gold or Silver kinda human?

I used to be silver growing up, but I'm definitely more of a gold gal now! Although I love to mix and match depending on my mood and outfit.

If we are in the area to visit your lovely store, what else could we do?! (or eat... or experience!)

How much time have you got! haha 

Gippsland is full of so many gems! Our sister store, The Marigold Merchant is only a few doors up which is so beautiful and has some of our fav homewares, body products and baby shower gifts! We’re also regulars at Stella’s Pantry, an awesome pantry & deli! And if you’re after a delicious brunch, you can’t go past Main Street!
