We love stacking rings, but what we love even more is a perfectly fitting ring (because let’s be honest, those adjustable bands that pinch your fingers? No thanks!). Whether you’re treating yourself or planning a surprise for someone, choosing the right size is essential.
Good news: measuring your ring size is way easier than you think. No more guessing or ordering a ring that’s too tight or too loose! Follow our guide, and in just 3 minutes, you’ll know your size for life.
Fun fact: Most people have two different ring sizes depending on their fingers (or three if you count the thumb!). If you love switching things up, it’s always good to check before stacking your rings.
Ready? Here are 5 super easy methods to measure your ring size from home (or at your favorite jeweler’s).

1. Print the guide at 100% scale (no zooming!).
2. Follow the instructions to either measure an existing ring or wrap the sizing tool around your finger.
3. Read your size directly from the guide—it’s that simple!
Bonus Tip: Keep your printed ring sizer for future purchases!
MEASURE A RING YOU ALREADY OWN
Do you already have a ring that fits perfectly? Use it to find your size!
1. Grab a ruler and place it on a flat surface.
2. Place your ring on top of the ruler.
3. Measure the inside diameter (from one inner edge to the other, not including the band thickness).
4. Compare your measurement with our Inside Diameter Chart below.
Pro tip: Planning a surprise gift (like an engagement ring)? Secretly borrow a ring they wear on that finger and measure it!
MEASURE YOUR FINGER WITH STRING OR PAPER
Don’t have a ring handy? No worries! Try this simple trick:
1. Cut a thin strip of paper (or use a piece of string).
2. Wrap it around your finger and mark where it overlaps.
3. Unwrap it and measure the length with a ruler (in mm).
4. Compare your measurement with our Inside Circumference Chart below.
Remember: Don’t wrap it too tightly—metal rings don’t stretch! If you’re between sizes, always size up.
Here's a handy guide to convert your measurement into a ring size:
YOUR PHONE CAN HELP YOU
Yes, there’s an app for that! If you have a ring that fits but no ruler handy, this method is for you.
1. Download a Ring Sizer app on your phone (we recommend Jason Withers Ring Sizer— super easy to use!).
2. Follow the app’s setup instructions.
3. Place your ring on the screen and adjust the slider to match the inside diameter.
4. The app will instantly tell you your size!
Important: Make sure to measure the inside of the ring, not the outer edges.
STILL ENSURE? ASK AN EXPERT
Not completely confident? No worries! Stop by your local jeweler and ask them to measure your finger. They have a set of metal ring sizers for the most accurate fit possible.
Pro Tip: Try on a couple of sizes to see which feels the most comfortable, especially if you're between sizes.
