Our letter to MOTHER EARTH | #Earthday

Dear Mother Earth,
 
            We are so grateful for you! Every day you give us everything you have, and we certainly don’t appreciate it enough. We can’t quite believe we get to witness your endless beauty just by walking outside and we are endlessly fascinated by your richness, diversity, complexity and wisdom. We are grateful for your sunrises and sunsets, for the delicious vegetables you allow us to grow, for the rain on our skin, for the cute and the most impressive animals you have produced... and so much more. 
 
            We can’t fathom how much we have hurt you over the decades, but we definitely see the consequences now. We’re so sad to see you degraded because of our actions and this letter is our wake-up call: we need to do better. Can you believe your oceans are full of plastic? Your forests are being cut? Whole species are becoming extinct? The ice is melting & islands disappearing? 
 
            At Luna & Rose, we are firm believers that we can make a change. Every little step is important: if we’re ever sad, discouraged, pessimistic, we remember that every action counts and can only benefit you, Mother Earth. If 7 billion people get together, there is no reason why it wouldn’t work. We promise you; we will help in achieving all of us to do better. 
 
           As our friends at EVERLANE said: “The next 10 years is our last chance to reverse the damage. But there is hope. People are more motivated than ever to drive change – and businesses must help lead the way.” We hear you and we are right next to you Everlane.
 
            Over the past 6 years we have been doing the best we can to walk a little lighter on you, our beautiful earth. Producing in a closed loop production with zero waste for our jewellery collections, using organic fabrics where we can for our apparel, biodegradable packaging, recycling in house, scrunchies from left over fabric… And we promise, we’re trying hard to find a solution for our small plastic reusable jewellery bags, currently essential for production, really really soon. We will continue to keep giving back to organizations driving change.
 
            Today, and everyday, we are calling all Earth lovers (and who isn’t one?!) to join us in this journey to make a change. Together, we can support the right organizations and brands, share our tips with each other, vote for the right leaders who are guiding change, educate ourselves and everyone around us to name a few things. We are not perfect, but trying our best is a goal we can certainly achieve. Mother Earth, we are ready to repair the damage we have done over the years, and we can’t wait to see you thriving again.

            We really hope you are enjoying this very moment in time that COVID-19 has provided, that we have all stopped, stayed home and given you a moment to rest, recover, breath and rejuvenate. Long may this 'stopping' continue in a hope that you have more time to replenish some of the damage to date. We can't wait to get back out and enjoy your beauty in good time.
