We're pretty stoked on our new collection of Patron Saint Necklace Pendants, and today we thought you might like to get to know the Patron Saint Nicholas a little better.... You may have already heard of him before but, why is he so rad & such a 'Saint'? Step this way my friends....
St Nicholas is the patron saint of Children, Sailors, Merchants and Students. While he has many great yarns behind his name, in todays western culture he is more commonly known as, well, Santa Claus! I hear you saying, how did a guy called Nicholas get a whole day named after him & a figurine of an old dude in a red suit huh? Read on....
St Nicholas gained popularity (and later, his Patron Saint) for such acts as rescuing children from calamity and returning them to the care of their worried families.
The biggest legend of how St Nicholas become the Patron Saint of Children is one that is most often circulated - perhaps for its obscenity! It goes a little like this: During a terrible famine in his country of Turkey, a malicious butcher lured three little children into his house, killed them, placed their remains in a barrel to cure and planned to sell them off as ham (Yes, you may vomit right now). Saint Nicholas, was visiting the region at the time to care for the hungry. Not only did he see through the butcher's horrific crime but also resurrected the three boys to life and therein, became the Patron Saint of Children –Yay for not eating mini humans and others thinking they were Ham!
Other stories of a life protecting Children, explain how St Nicholas found children who had disappeared, were kidnaped, fell into a well, or suffered some other disaster - all to be delivered through the good offices of Saint Nicholas. These momentous occasions have profound and universal appeal which made Nicholas the much valued Guardian of Children around the world.
And so today we wear our Patron Saint of Nicholas pendant as an ode to all of those little friends of ours, remembering their strength, enthusiasm for life and energy they continue to bring to the world around us.
Know a pal who has some pretty awesome children? Maybe they need a St Nicholas Pendant

I visited St Nicolas church in Paris, it is one of a few churches in the secular Paris that regularly and exclusively perfoms the traditional Latin-rite Mass. The Mass will be focused on the Holy Sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the Cross. There will be respectful and prayerful silence before, during, and after the Mass.
I tried to write a blog about it, see whether you like it: https://stenote.blogspot.com/2018/09/paris-at-st-nicolas-du-chardonnet.html
