Meet our Pal St. Gerard, the patron of expectant mothers! Mr Gerard was born in Italy and lived a short but meaningful life. His prayers today are sought for the children, unborn children, women in childbirth, mothers, expectant mothers & motherhood, hallelujah ladies! (It also helps that this little guy is extremely good looking in all it's round form!)
St Gerard was said to be responsible for a number of miracles throughout his life but his legend lives on for one particular miracle that relates to a woman in labor (Let's be honest... we're all hoping for miracles at that time!)
Shortly before St Gerard’s death he had dropped his handkerchief & told the girl who had found it to keep it as she "may need it someday." Many many years later this particular girl unexpectedly went into labor and was on the verge of losing her baby.
Remembering the scarf of previous years, she called for St Gerard's handkerchief to be applied to her. Almost immediately her pain abated and she proceeded to give birth to a healthy child - something very rare during that time. This, among a number of other birth-aiding stories while St Gerard was alive is how her became the Patron Saint of Motherhood.
To this day, the legend of St Gerard’s status of the Patron Saint of Motherhood continues on, this time in the form of a gorgeous round pendant designed to be worn by all the gorgeous Mum’s out there.
