In keeping with our dedication to planet-centric design, we work with only the best natural fibres that will eventually, after a really good time here on Planet Earth, compost straight back into the ground again. Welcome home little ones.
Deliciously soft organic cotton is the fabric of choice for all of our t-shirts and boy does it feel good. In case you missed it, cotton is the fluffy staple that grows inside a protective case around the seeds of plants. Once the cotton clouds have grown and are ready to pick, the fibre is spun into a thread to make our lovely light, breathable tees. Our organic cotton fabric paired with our organic plant-based dyes make our t-shirts almost good enough to eat. But no one wants to be the gal chewing on her sleeve, so maybe stick to the poke bowls.

Mother Nature did good when she thought up linen, the most luxurious fibre of all and the star of our ‘Easy on the Earth’ apparel collection. Linen has so many pros it’s a little overwhelming, but the lightweight, breathable benefits are a good starting point. We use linen for almost all of our shirts, shorts and pants, while the strength of the fibre makes it perfect for our collection of tote bags.
So where does this magical fibre hail from? Linen is made from the flax plant and is a gentle crop that helps deter weeds from the plants around it. Flax is typically grown without the use of herbicides or pesticides, and every part of the plant is turned into a by-product. Ever wondered where linseeds come from? Well, now you know.
The production of flax requires a quarter less water and energy than traditional cotton, oh and one last thing, linen also gets softer and more awesome with each and every wear. The one teeny downside? Dust off that iron girl, linen is a creaser. Soz about that, but totally worth it - right?
We use a Linen/Rayon blend for a lot of our Plant Dyed Apparel due to it's extra strength and smooth crease-free appearance (And it takes to our Plant Dye colours like a CHAMP!)
Our Pepper colourway is 100% Linen however!
Ramie is one of the oldest natural plant fibres in the world which grows consistently throughout the year, using much less water than other natural crops to produce. Better yet, its natural resistance to bacteria, mildew and mould means that it’s easy to look after and able to grow without the use of toxic herbicides or pesticides. It’s superior durability, strength and ability to hold the shape it’s formed into without wrinkling makes it the perfect material for our range of our sandals, Tilly Towels and wallets. Thank you ramie.
