It’s fair to say that Luna & Rose would not be where we are today without the talents, dedication and contagious smiles of our local artisans. You’ll be happy to know that every single piece is lovingly handmade in small batches by a wee collective of family-run workshops, whether that’s our expert sandal maker Nano or our wallet crafting couple Putu and Hanafi.
Putu & Made are the bread and butter of Luna & Rose jewellery. These 2 extremely talented humans are responsible for turning our 2D design sketches into 3D 'real life' designs for us to then create moulds from to produce our collections. Their painstaking attention to detail and ability to carve, scratch, cut, shape and shine even the smallest of details literally blows our mind. Both of these guys are freelancers who work out of their home studios in amongst their roosters and brood of little mini next-gen wax-makers.
If Putu and Made are our bread and butter, Anam and his small team of silversmiths are the juicy jam in between. We’ve been working with him for the past five years and admire his dedication to his studio, while maintaining a great work-life balance. Anam’s wife and three kiddies live in Java, so every month Anam heads back home to check in and get his dose of family time. Anam has a fine eye for detail and is across every single part of our production process. We love his beautiful smile, endless nervous giggles when he tries his English on us and his passion to constantly learn and improve.
Putu and Hanafi are passionate about the nitty gritty, handling our technical wallets with the highest attention to detail and craft. This husband and wife duo are slowly building their empire from home, while juggling the joys of parenthood and we can’t wait to watch them grow.
Hadi is like a Bali dad to our founder Rosie. He’s one of the first Indonesians she connected with when first arriving in 2014. They spent many hours chatting about fashion, tailoring and beading while he made the very first jewellery pouches for Luna & Rose.
Hadi definitely knows how to maintain and enjoy a good work-life balance too, often found chewing the fat with his pals while he whips up our tote bags. We love visiting Hadi for a daily dose of laughs - an absolute legend of a human that we are so privileged to know.
Ayu is a freelance tailor who works from home, while being a full-time Mumma to her son. Who, might we add, is very cute and very cheeky. She finishes all of our scarves to perfection after they have been printed at Jessica’s family printing factory. We admire Ayu’s enthusiasm to learn, calm energy and of course, her sewing talents.
We have been working with Tuti and her team for all of our packaging needs since 2018, often popping in to chat all things religion, Bali development, new babies and motherhood. She is one go-getting Mumma who handles running their printing business and home life with a girlboss attitude.
Last - but most certainly not least - Nano handcrafts our sandals to order. He manages his extremely talented team, working as a translator in between. We admire Nano’s patience and calm demeanor, as well as his ability to understand our needs to perfection. A trip to Nano’s is never a short one, as he is full of wise words and life wisdom, often telling Rosie that she works too hard and should nap more...
We are incredibly proud to have found such a diverse range of talents on the island of Bali to bring all of our designs and creations to life.
