Western Australian based bikini brand Ete Swimwear fell into our lives like many good things have - through instagram. I was deep in the 'gram one day when one of their gorgeous bikini designs with lacy detailing fell under one of my frantic thumb taps. Since then, I have been following the brands journey and seeing increasingly must-haveof her beautiful swimwear brand develop - most recently, joining her on an epic Summer Giveaway (You can enter to win here, competition ends this Sunday so skip to it!) We caught up with Jess and heard a little more about her life in Western Australia and how Ete Swimwear came to be.
Hey Jess! before we get the good stuff, can you tell us a little bit about you and what you get up to Monday – Friday?
I am Jess, the owner and founder of Ete Swimwear, an Australian Swimwear label. Monday to Friday I am working full time in the business, no day is ever the same and its always busy! I am currently doing most things in the business, I have some people who help me out here and there but mostly I run everything from orders to marketing, designing and so much more.
Cool, where abouts do you currently live?
Currently I am based in Perth, Western Australia.
Beautiful. I havn’t explored much around there but can’t wait to one day! If we only had 1 night in your neck of the woods, where would you be taking us for a killer breakfast date?
That’s a tough one, there are so many good places for brunch but definitely somewhere along the coast. There are so many amazing and healthy cafes along the beach to choose from and once you’re done eating you can head down to the beach! Top areas would be Scarborough, Freemantle or Cottesloe beaches.
And after that… where would you send us to for your favorite local beach?
My Favourite beach would have to be all of Rottnest Island. It is just a short 30-minute ferry ride from the mainland and has the whitest sand and turquoise waters you will ever see. It is perfect to spend a day exploring the island on your push bike, discovering new beaches along the way.
Now, we’ve decided to stay for 5 days. We have a van. And a tent. Where should we go?
Western Australia is one of those places you really need to explore so it’s a good thing you have your van organized! South of Perth is where you will find the wine region in Margaret River it has beautiful beaches, wineries and its so peaceful. North of Perth is where the weather heats up and all along the coast are beautiful beaches to visit and really get a sense of the ‘outback’ with red dust everywhere.
Other than what you just described to us, where’s your (next) favourite spot to head away to on a long weekend?
Bali is just a short plane ride from Perth too, just 3 hours so it is great for a long weekend trip!
Sounds amazing! Now we know you design some pretty beautiful Swimwear, can you tell us a little bit about what inspired you to start your brand and how it came to fruition?
I have always loved the beach and summer lifestyle and noticed a gap in the market where I couldn’t find beautiful swimwear with colourful prints and pretty details. So in February 2016 I launched Ete Swimwear. With a business and marketing degree plus having worked in digital marketing behind me, I was able to launch my ecommerce business with no external help. It was a lot of work and still is, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. It is so rewarding to hear customers so happy and loving their new swimwear.
We love your recent collaboration that you did with Swedish babe Matilda Djerf! How did that come about?
We have been working with Matilda for quite a while now and we had built a friendship with her over the past year. We got chatting and came up with the idea to collaborate on a collection together and it was amazing!
What makes ETE different from other swimwear brands on the market, whats your unique spicy flavor?
Ete Swimwear was made for the Feminine Adventurers. I wanted to create a brand and swimwear that can help girls feel their most confident and that they can tackle the world whilst wearing our designs. I also wanted to create something different to what was seen in the market, and stay true to our feminine designs and unique hand painted prints.
Where is the best beach you have ever taken ETE to?
Some of the best beaches we have been to would have to be Fiji, it is such a beautiful place to visit and the people are so friendly!
Amazing. I’m a huge beach fan and would love to visit there one day!

Thanks for chatting Jess, I look forward to watching the ETE journey continue x
