Delicious Green Smoothie Recipe with Banana Mango and Spinach

There really is nothing better to start off your day with.... Not only your stomach will thank you for all the nutrients and light-load first thing after waking up but your mid morning energy levels will be reason enough to make this delicious smoothie apart of your daily morning ritual - forever!

My love affair started with Green Smoothies when I tried the Greenie at SWICH cafe in Bali. They keep it simple with Mango, Banana + Spinach and it was enough to get me entirely hooked. Being a vegetarian and a huge lover of fruit, this was the perfect fix to get my spinach intake without feasting on a whole raw plant and get some delicious island mango in me without the admin of cutting and peeling it (Let's be honest - they're not the most romantic fruit to eat straight up!).

And so it began... From here I have played around with many forms of the 'Green Smoothie' concept including green Apples, Celery (Not a favourite flavour of mine personally), Cucumber, Avocado, Kiwi Fruit and of course Kale.

Delicious Green Smoothie Recipe with Banana Mango and Spinach

After many years of exploration around creating the perfect Green smoothie / juice, there are 2 very important pieces of advice I have for you ladies who are yet to indulge.
1) Get an epic blender or you'll be finding bits of spinach / kale in your teeth at 4pm

2) Always balance the greens out with a various 'intense' fruit such as Banana, Mango, Lemon, Kiwi Fruit, Pineapple .... Otherwise you're basically eating Cold Green Gazpacho soup for breakfast. Who know's, maybe that's your thing...

So here goes one of my favourite Go-To Green Machine Smoothies for Breakfast. Once you've tried it, let me know your thoughts!

Delicious Green Smoothie Recipe with Banana Mango and Spinach

INGREDIENTS (For 1 Serve, double if you're an awesome housemate / Girlfriend)

  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 ripe banana, preferably frozen
  • ½ cup chopped mango, frozen
  • 2 large handfuls of baby spinach
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) pumpkin seeds (pepita seeds)
  • 2 tbsp Chia Seeds
  • A Couple of Ice cubes

Place all ingredients into a Hi-Powered blender and blend!
Have a play around and see what your tastebuds prefer but some other options could include:

  • Add a Scoop of Protein Powder + 1/3 cup of water to make it more filling
  • Change the Mango for Pineapple
  • Swap the Spinach for Kale
  • Add a Tablespoon on Peanut Butter for that creamy peanut flavour
  • Use Water instead of Almond Milk for something lighter & Nut-free
  • Swap the milk for water and add half a squeezed lemon for something more 'zingy'
  • Try any other Fruits such as Frozen Kiwifruit
  • Swap the Mango for Avocado & add a Tbsp of Cacoa Powder for a 'naughty' choco hit
