  • Meet Annie Tarasova: Artist, Writer, Taurus & Owner of Dreamy Moons

    December 07, 2020 4 min read

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts with us Annie. I’m a huge fan of your social media and now gorgeous Dreamy Moons and am so excited to have them in our online store!

First of all, what is your Star Sign?

Taurus Sun, Cancer Moon & Libra Rising

What traits from being a Taurus do you think you align most true with?

Tauruses are Earth signs, and that is the element I relate with the most. I love being barefoot, hiking, spending time in forests. Tauruses are known to be quite indulgent in earthly pleasures such as delicious food and good smelling scents and physical affection. And they looooove being comfortable - as much as I talk about getting out of your comfort zone, I secretly love a good routine.

Most annoying Taurus trait you have?

Definitely being stubborn. Although it is an annoying trait, I am grateful for it because my stubbornness helped me achieve a lot. Not listening to what others are telling me and having trust in myself is the reason why I am living my dream life. I thank my stubbornness for a lot of things, and I am learning to live with it and to know when to put it aside and when to open my heart and mind to other’s advice.

Do you find yourself effected by the cycles of the moon? How?

Absolutely! The biggest thing I noticed is having problems sleeping around the Full Moon, and once I do fall asleep, I have extremely vivid dreams, often lucid. I often feel quite inspired on New Moons, and that is the perfect time to set intentions.

You have been creating beautiful books & cards for 4 years now, can you tell us a little more on how you started out on this Journey?

I have always been creative, since childhood, but after I finished high school I realised that I was too afraid of the competition in the art and design field. I went to study health science instead, which was fascinating but put me out of touch with my creative side completely. To gain my creativity back I decided to open an Etsy shop simply in hope that it would motivate me to paint and create more once I see that others like what I do. It was the best overnight decision I’ve ever made. I had no idea it would grow as much as it did, it was just something I wanted to create for fun.

Would you call yourself an artist or a writer… or something else?

I still don’t exactly know what to call myself, when someone asks me what I do for a living it takes a while for me to explain. I am so many things, that there is no label for the collection of things that I do. Artist, Writer, Business owner, Designer, Distributor, Photographer, Influencer… It makes me realise how much we love labelling things, and that some things don’t need a label at all. I just do what I do, and I love it, and that is all.

What has been the biggest pain points about running & growing your business?

Adjusting to my own growth. My business grew quite fast, and quite effortlessly which I am so thankful for. I don’t remember a stage where I really TRIED to grow it. Instead, I found myself stressing about constantly adjusting to growth. I needed more space for books. My garage wasn’t enough anymore. Then I needed someone to help me package my books. Then I needed someone on customer service. It was getting too much for just one person, and my biggest business decision I made at the start of this year was to hand over all of my fulfilment to a warehouse. It was so extremely hard letting go of control after 3 years of doing everything myself, and it is still hard not knowing what is going on there at all times. But I have freedom and I can be who I want to be - an artist, rather than someone who packages orders all day.

Where do you find your inspiration from? Any person, book or place in particular?

Honestly, just from the top of my head. I am deeply inspired by nature and the Universe and the way this world works, and all the things we FEEL but can not see. The magic beneath this 3D realm. The power of our minds. Some of my inspiration comes from my dreams. I am deeply inspired by the cosmos and celestial elements - sun, moon, stars and constellations.

What does the future hold for Dreamy Moons & Annie?

I would love to just keep doing what I am doing - continue creating books and making art from my heart. Before pandemic I hosted my own creative retreat in Bali, and I had big plans to run events this year. Hopefully I can start doing that once the restrictions are over.

Tell us 3 things about yourself that we wouldn’t know from following you on social media?

    1. I was born in Russia, moved to Australia at 12 years old. English is my second language.
    2. I am vegan and used to be a massive foodie, absolutely obsessed with recipes and making my food look pretty.
    3. I don’t take life too seriously and I am deeply connected with my inner child, I can laugh at myself and be silly and I feel like most of the time I don’t act my age (24).

What are your essentials for life?

Nature, art, good food and likeminded company.

    Spirit Animal?

    A deer

And finally Annie, any thoughts for 2021?

Perception is everything. Two people can be going through the same thing, yet how they feel about it is completely different from one another. Your inner realm is your mindset, your past experiences, your beliefs, your feelings, your connection with the divine. No matter what is happening in the outer world, it can be dealt with ease and love and gratitude. Even if it’s something negative you can be grateful for the wisdom and the lessons it taught you. How you feel about your outer world says a lot about your inner world. How do you make your outer world more pleasant? Go within.
