PLASTIC FREE JULY with @driftersandlovers

Carly of @loversanddrifters Content Creator on Plastic Free
Carly is our extremely talented Content Creator, based in our island home of Bali. We know she's madly passionate about sustainability so we asked her for some of her top tips on how she tries to keep plastic out of her life on the daily...
Grab a snack & hear what this lovely Dutchie has to share with us.
Carly, What are your top 5 Plastic-Free Hacks around the home?
1. Reusing my non plastic bag when doing groceries.
2. Refill bottle or cup for my drinks to bring with me, or even use it at home.
3. Buy toilet paper, tissues etc without plastic packaging (We are lucky to have a zero waste shop in Canggu)
4. Buy clothes made from sustainable fabrics and natural dyes to reduce micro plastics when washing.
5. Buy your groceries like fruits and veggies without plastic packaging.

Do you have any eco-travel tips to avoid plastic on the fly?
Bring your own refillable bottle, bring your own cutlery on the flight and bring your own reusable bag.

We know there's probably a few! But what is the best investment you ever made as a plastic 'swap'?
Probably my refill bottle, because of this my use of plastic bottles is very minimal!

I promise this isn't a trick question.... But how important is avoiding plastic in your daily life to you?
While living in Bali you see how many plastics and micro plastics end up in the ocean and beaches. It's really horrible to see how bad this situation is and definitely eye opening! Certain things you can change easily, like toilet paper without the plastic packaging, bottles, bags, packaging etc. It's definitely important to me to change these things to reduce plastic within my own home.

What is your best piece of Eco-friendly advice?
Reduce plastic packaging, have your vegetarian days, buy sustainable fashion or thrift shop. Start your own herb garden and before you throw something away, think about if someone else might need it :)
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts & tips with us Carly! And for all the incredible work you do for us. x
